Back in February, I blogged about the wonderful light paintings created by Kendra Farrell’s students at the International School of Beijing. Well, they’ve been at it again this Fall, producing another captivating set of light paintings that Kendra has shared on Flickr.
I got to poking around Flickr the past few days and found several other inspiring collections of light paintings such as this one. Although I haven’t tried it myself yet, I understand the basic idea behind light painting which involves holding the shutter open on a camera for a period of time while someone waves a light source in from of the lenses. Looking for more information, I found the following video by “Tony” helpful in going over the basics of what you need to create a light painting and how to enhance your images with a program like Photoshop.
I have an opportunity to try this out later this week during our School of Art + Art History’s open house on Friday night. If I get some decent results, I’ll share them here.
