ARE 4242: Teaching Art: The Study of Practice (syllabus pdf)
The study of art teaching practices in the public schools. Emphasis is on art curriculum planning, motivational strategies, art room management and alternative assessment in art.

History of the theory and practice of teaching art.
ARE 6148: Curriculum in Teaching Art (syllabus pdf)
A survey of historical and contemporary theories of the design and implementation of art curricula. Emphasis on the ‘backward design’ model of curriculum development.
ARE 6386:Teaching Art in Higher Education (syllabus pdf)
This course is designed to introduce graduate art students to the teaching of art at the post-secondary level.

This course assists the preservice classroom teacher in developing basic skills and knowledge in teaching art at the elementary level.
ARE 4940 Student Teaching in Art Education
Supervised teaching over a period of eleven weeks in an Alachua County public school art classroom.
